Image
By DADA AYOKHAI The State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo, has lifted the suspension placed on the Chairman of the party in the State, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi. Aziegbemi’s reinstatement followed his exoneration by the Investigative Committee of the party, which cleared him of all allegations laid against him. It would be recalled that the SWC of three party had on 2 June, suspended the chairman, set up a committee to investigate allegations leveled against him. The party in a statement by its publicity secretary, Chris Nehikhare, said the decision to suspend the Chairman who was accused of gross misconduct, brewing unnecessary tension and causing disunity among its members in the state in a manner akin to bringing the party into disrepute. It further noted that, “as hard as the decision is, it is designed to bring sanity back to the party.” The State Deputy Chairman, Harrison Omagbon was thereafter delegated to act in his place until the determina...

Etsako echoes for more of Hon Abubakar Momoh years after office

Image
By DADA AYOKHAI  Across Edo North and other senatorial districts in the country,   June is the season of accountability when lawmakers give an account of their stewardship to those they  represent in the various law making assemblies.  With so much intensity and bravado, the lawmakers set up various town hall meetings where they regale the people with astonishing tales of their stewardship.  They reel out a long list of their accomplishments and conclude the grand outing with the distribution of empowerment items. On the other hand, the people try to discern whether or not their interests have been truly served. Amidst the fanfare that comes with this showpiece to impress the constituents, there is also a side bar which rekindles feelings of nostalgia among the people. Whilst the lawmakers gallivant all over Edo North district unveiling projects and dishing out palliatives,   the Edo North people, like Oliver Twist, in asking for more ...

Image
By DADA AYOKHAI The senator representing Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Francis Alimikhena recently clocked 6 years in office . Six years down the lane, his constituent,  Edo North people, are more interested in taking stock to see if the soldier- turned politician they elected to serve as their mouthpiece in the Senate has lived up to expectations or not.  Rather than hold a press conference to tell  the stories about the  bills and motions bearing his marks in the 8th and 9th Senate, he chose uncommon ways to let his actions speak volumes for him through commissioning of projects. Among the many projects the senator commissioned in a space of days include a block of three classrooms at Ihievbe; a block of two classrooms at Ayogwiri; a Dialysis Centre at the General Hospital, Auchi and a classroom block at Uneme Eruru in Akoko Edo local government area.  Much as some watchers of Edo North  politics appreciate th...
