Amidst the controversy over the role played in the gruesome murder of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate, involving some personnel of the Nigeria Army, reports in Auchi also indicates that soldiers in Auchi are responsible for the  killing of  Godwin Iraoya.

Edo North residents, mostly youths, also participated in the agitation for an end to police brutality and the reformation of the entity.

Godwin Iraoya, from Otuo community in Owan East and in his early twenties, was killed by a stray bullet fired by the soldiers while during the #EndSARS protests in Auchi.

The protest, which started on a peaceful note, turned violent , in what late afrobeat legend, Fela, would characterise as sorrows, tears and blood.

According to sources at the scene of the shooting, young Godwin Iraoya, an orphan, did not actually participate in the protest on that fateful day, but was only unlucky to have been in the right place at the wrong time.

He was hit by a stray bullet fired by one of the overzealous soldiers on his way to the mechanic workshop where he serves as an apprentice.

Close friends of the late Iraoya, said to be the last child of his parents, described him as  "quiet and diligent", adding he had just celebrated his 25th birthday on October 3 in a very modest way with his close family members.

After his secondary education at Azama College, Otuo, in Owan East council area, young Iraoya opted to serve apprenticeship in  a mechanic workshop in lieu of a sponsor to further his educational aspirations.

Sources told our reporter that a mortally wounded Godwin Iraoya was first rushed to a local hospital in Auchi for first aid treatment. The hospital management, however, rejected him, insisting he should be taken to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua, which is far from Auchi. He died before getting there.

Aggrieved Edo North youths have taken it upon themselves to demand justice for late Godwin Iraoya.

The soldiers accused of snuffing life out of the young man are said to be those attached to Setraco Nigeria Limited, a major construction company who's residential estate is close to Jattu junction, the protest venue.

The soldiers were reportedly said to have engaged the protesters in a hot argument over the right of way, leading to the removal of barricades and random shooting.
