The Edo State Government, in a swift response aimed at hearkening to the yearnings of the concerned communities, has accorded formal recognition to three royal fathers in the state.
By this singular action, the recognised royal fathers now have the legal instrument they required to preside over the affairs of their respective domains
The newly recognised three royal fathers cut across Edo North and Edo Central districts.
A breakdown of the newly recognised royal fathers shows that while Edo North has two, Edo Central has only one.
The approval was the product of the resolutions reached by the Executive Council at its weekly virtual meeting which was presided over by the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki.
Among the recently approved royal fathers is Prince Clement Obayemi Erimiakhena, the village head of Ojirami community in Akoko Edo local government area.
Others includes Chief Anthony Aikpegbe Asebhofoh, the clan head of Inyenlen in Esan South East local government and Chief Sumaina Momodu Iluafenmi lV, the Udale (clan head) of Owan East local government area.
The names of the three royal fathers was presented for consideration and approval by the Exco in accordance with the statues dealing with such issues. The state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Monday Osaigbovo, who presented the three names for Exco consideration, said the approval for their formal recognition came after an intense and robust debate of the matter by the Council members, adding it was made in accordance with the provisions of Part II of the Traditional Rulers and Chieftaincy Law, of 1978.
With their appointments now ratified, the three royal fathers would in due course receive their staff of office from the state government
