Ozekhome takes over Anabor's hotel in Benin

A reknown legal luminary and rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, is expanding his business frontiers by veering into the hospitality industry, with the recent acquisition of an hotel along the popular Sapele Road in Benin, the Edo State capital.
Chief Ozekhome, a multiple chieftaincy title holder from Agenebode, was said to have bought the hotel from Chief Godwin Anabor, his fellow kinsman, from Fugar in Etsako Central, for an undisclosed amount.
The hotel, which is situated along the popular Sapele Road in Benin, was built about 10years ago and was met to serve as a top notch spot for fun lovers, relaxation and entertainment arena.
At the peak of his fame, Chief Anabor was a popular Lagos socialite and employer of labour. He took the social scene by storm and held sway as the lord of the ring until misfortune hit his sprawling business empire.
Chief Anabor, a multiple chieftaincy title holder given to him by monarchs across the country, was also a notable philanthropist who freely dished out favours and financial succour to widows and the poor.
He lived a luxurious life that was befitting of kings and was the darling of a coterie of musicians, majority of whom waxed albums in his honour in various languages.
A hall within the precincts of Etsako Central local government Secretariat in Fugar, was named after him as a mark of honour for being one the biggest donor during the creation of the council area.
However, Chief Anabor's sudden fall from grace to grass is still a mystery to his kinsmen in Etsako.
Most of his businesses and properties, scattered in many parts of the country, notably in Lagos have come under the hammer of auction and outright sales, while Chief Anabor himself has gone into penury and also disappeared from public glare.
The decision of Chief Mike Ozekhome to acquire the sprawling hotel edifice may not be unconnected with the resolve of the outspoken rights activist to diversify his vastly expanding business empire.
