Edo PDP, APC hold maiden consolidated meeting

A meeting of Edo State Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) members and  the break away All Progressives Congress, (APC) factional counterpart, led by Barr. Anselm Ojezua recently took place  in Benin City.


The closed door meeting held at the state secretariat of the party in Benin and the first since the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki at the September 19, 2020, Edo governorship election, attracted top brass of the party in the state. 

According to Chris  Nehikhare, state publicity secretary of PDP, the meeting was tagged "Consolidated" because it is the first time the erstwhile state working committee of the APC that resigned its membership of APC to join PDP was formally meeting with the PDP state working committee. "


Recall the APC state working committee faction broke ranks and fused into the PDP in the heat of the internal squabbles which engulfed and significantly weakened the capacity of the APC in the governorship election last year.  

Since then, however, no formal meeting has taken place between the two committees to synchronise their varied political interests. 

In his remarks at the meeting, the state chairman of  PDP, Dr Tony Aziegbemin, praised the APC factional members for their tenacity and resolve to link up with like minds to build a better Edo state . 

Dr Aziegbemin, who also described the meeting as "extraordinary", bearing in mind the circumstances which led to their mass defection from the APC to join the PDP, noted the PDP ship has set on sail and there is no looking back.

On his part, Barr. Ojezua x- rayed some past political events in the state and concluded there was need to build a strong and cohesive political platform to weather future political storms. 

The meeting served as a forum for the formal welcome of the break away APC faction into the PDP's fold.

Auchi Microfinance Bank groans under high customers debt profiles

By DADA AYOKHAI  The management of Auchi Microfinance Bank (AMFB), yesterday, decried the high indebtedness of customers to the bank just as it urges customers to pay up in order to remain in business. Chairman of the financial institution, Hassan Momodu, expressed his resentment at its 22nd and 23rd joint annual general meetings of the bank in Auchi, Edo  According to him "We are using this medium to appeal passionately to our shareholders and the general public that are indebted to us to pay up to reduce our yearly provisioning and improve our profitability”,  Momodu also said that the increase in the fund in the period under review represented a 29 percent improvement on the fund. By DADA AYOKHAI The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, will soon engage in another political battle over the choice of candidate to fill the position of the National Deputy Youth Leader  microzone to the state by the party to be formalized at the National convention slated for October 30 and 31st. The Edo State PDP chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi according to source unanimously  conceded the choice of who occupied that position to the state governor in tune as the Leader of the party in the state.
