Etsako Central LGA immortalizes Late Prince Abuda, names council Hall, other after him

By DADA AYOKHAI

The desire of the late kinsmen of  Prince Dennis Abuda,   as expressed through their umbrella body, Fugar Progressive Union, FPU, to have a worthy edifice named after him has come to fruition.
The chairman of Etsako Central local government, Hon John Akhigbe, heeded to the demands of the FPU by  renaming the council's multipurpose hall and the road that leads to his Fugar residence after the deceased.

Hon Akhigbe made the disclosure at the solemn candle light vigil held at the Fugar garage, in honour of late Prince Abuda.
Describing the US based late Prince Abuda as a philanthropist and key contributor to the growth of Etsako Central, Hon Akhigbe noted the state in general and Etsako in particular would sorely miss the midas touch, the zeal and the passion which the late Prince Abuda often brought to bear in his various endeavours, adding he would also  be remembered for his front line role in unifying the diverse groups in the state.

While lamenting the sad and gruesome way the killers of late Prince Abuda snuffed life out of him, particularly at a time his services were most needed, Hon Akhigbe, however, took consolation in the fact that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.
Late Prince Abuda, a US based businessman, was abducted and later murdered while on transit to catch a flight back to his Atlanta, Georgia base, after vacationing in the country.
In particular, Hon Akhigbe, in his  reminiscence on the life of Prince Abuda, said, "The late Prince Abuda was a patriot, a friend to all. He was imbued with extraordinary courage and leadership qualities. His lifestyle  reminded us of the truism that wealth and service are not antithetical to each other. He would always say that one's true wealth lies in his ability to render service for the common good of all.

I'm particularly excited  at the   maturity and restraint exhibited by Fugar youths in the heat of the provocation. Their refusal to engage in reprisals really saved the day".
Late Prince Abuda was the founder of the Fugar - American Foundation, an NGO through which he was able to reach - out to the indigents.
On December 30, 2020, the Foundation donated textbooks to Etsako Central library, as a gesture to boost the reading culture which has started to wane among students and also in support of the efforts of the council's chairman, Hon Osi John Akhigbe.
