Mudiamen University, Irrua, second private university in Esanland

The number of universities in Edo State recently increased by one with the federal government's granting of approval for the take off of Mudiamen University, Irrua, in Esanland of the state.


The coming of Mudiamen University in Irrua brings to two the number of private universities in Edo Central district of the state known in the local parlance as Esan.

The pioneer university in the district , Adegboyega University in Ogwa is owned by a religious body, Seventh Day Adventist Church.

 The new university is said to be  the uncommon  effort of Mr Sunny Eromosele Eboh who  conceived the idea of putting on  ground an educational avalanche to be known as Mudiamen University, that would be technologically oriented in philosophy.

The university will focus on  WELDING AND FABRICATION 

On Wednesday, 17th April, (what year naa?) the Planning and Implementation Committee of the proposed Mudiamen University of Welding and Fabrication, Irrua, in Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State, played host to the Verification Committee of the Nigeria University Commission, NUC, who were at the University to ascertain the level of work done to meet with the requirements for accrediting the institution.
                              
 Speaking during the visitation to the university site which led to the granting of the license to operate,  Hon Victor Edoro , the lawmaker representing the Irrua axis at the Edo State House of Assembly, said, the establishment of the university is a big plus not only to Esan Central, Esanland and Edo State, it is also the beginning of new things to come in Nigeria, as the university is expected to produce quality graduates that will be self-sustaining hence fill up the missing link between acquisition of academic knowledge and its application to real life situations in solving problems.

 Rt. Hon. Edoror,  added that, the graduates from Mudiamen University of Welding and Fabrication, Irrua, will go a long way in creating employment for the teeming youth, thereby reducing violence and criminality amongst them.

Auchi Microfinance Bank groans under high customers debt profiles

By DADA AYOKHAI  The management of Auchi Microfinance Bank (AMFB), yesterday, decried the high indebtedness of customers to the bank just as it urges customers to pay up in order to remain in business. Chairman of the financial institution, Hassan Momodu, expressed his resentment at its 22nd and 23rd joint annual general meetings of the bank in Auchi, Edo  According to him "We are using this medium to appeal passionately to our shareholders and the general public that are indebted to us to pay up to reduce our yearly provisioning and improve our profitability”,  Momodu also said that the increase in the fund in the period under review represented a 29 percent improvement on the fund.
