World Water Day: Benin-OWENA commissions water projects in Ihievbe, Uzanu

The management of Benin - Owena River Basin Authority has pledged to sustain the current tempo on water conservation and management as well as ensure it delivered on its core mandate.
Rekindling its pledge while commissioning a plethora of water projects in Edo North senatorial district, the Authority said it will not spare any effort in that regard.
And, to demonstrate its seriousness, the Authority recently commissioned two water and other related projects in Ihievbe, Owan East and Uzanu in Etsako East, respectively.
They included a three block classroom fitted with a modern toilet and borehole at Oboikhoduma Primary School, Emabu, Ihievbe, Owan East as well as two sets of boreholes in Uzanu; one of which is situated at Igiele Primary School, the other inside the town.
Incidentally, the minister of state for budget and national planning, Prince Clem Agba, hails from Uzanu.
With this frenzy of commissioning, the Authority was able to fulfill part of his mandate most especially on March 22, which is a day set aside to mark the World water day every year.
In his speech, Engr Saliu Ahmed, the Managing Director of the Benin - Owena River Basin Authority, represented by his Director of Finance, restated the Authority's commitment to discharge its critical role in water conservation and management.
Engr Ahmed said the Authority decided to mark this year's World water day in a special way, through commissioning of projects within its catchment area over the last year..
"We have undertaken and duly completed water schemes for small and medium sized communities."
The provision of the water projects especially in the rural areas is part of its deliberate to ensure the water management value chain trickles down.
World water day is celebrated on the 22nd of March of each year. The theme of this year's celebration is: "Valuing Water"
