Akpatason, Iriase facilitators of Benin owena projects in owan, Akoko Edo
By DADA AYOKHAI
BORDA has recently become pivotal in the provision of critical infrastructures in Edo North senatorial district.
Residents of the Authority's catchment areas, especially those in Edo North and beyond, read about its activities in the media, but in terms of direct impact, there was none.
The appointment of Engr Saliu Ahmed, however, brought a new lease of life into the Authority. Since then, the BORDA has rekindled hope and brought smiles on the faces of Edo North people, otherwise known in local parlance as Afenmai.
Findings have now emerged to show that behind the superlative performances of the BORDA management, there are a set of notable Edo North lawmakers who are working behind the scene and pulling all the necessary strings to ensure the Authority did not derail in its core mandates.
These men of calibre, mostly of the APC legislators and of Edo North extraction at the National Assembly, are working in concert with Engr Ahmed to secure budget approvals as well as ensure the Authority gets the necessary financial lifeline to fund its activities.
Without their inputs, the Authority would have been encumbered by either paucity of funds or its outright non availability.
Specifically, Hons. Peter Akpatason representing Akoko Edo and Pally Iriase former member representing Owan federal constituency respectively, facilitated various projects in their separate constituencies.
Hon Akpatason, a three time member of the House as well as the deputy majority leader, influenced the various projects been presently executed by BORDA in Akoko Edo.
These includes the rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of the Atte/Egbigere bridge, which has already elicited joy among the inhabitants.
Similarly, Hon Pally Iriase, also a principal officer in the House during his tenure of office facilitated the ongoing dam construction work in Otuo and others in owan federal constituency. The dam, when completed, is expected to provide clean and portable water to the inhabitants of Owan.
The synergy between the lawmakers in the National Assembly and the top leadership of BORDA is what has turned the Edo North political landscape into a massive construction field, with a litany of projects with the capacity to transform the lives of the people springing up on every available space.
