Amb. Anegbeh denies attack, kidnap of Senator Alimikhena

Two close associates of the senator representing Edo North, Sen Francis Alimikhena, have dismissed rumours of his attack and abduction as "blatantly false and  cruel".

: An online media recently reported that  the senator was attacked and abducted by hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers at Osara village along the Okene - Abuja highway, on his way back to Abuja.

 In a swift denial of the online news report, the duo of Mr Peter Anegbe, former Nigeria's ambassador to Malaysia and Hon Solomon Taiwo, political aide to the senator, vehemently debunked the story in separate interviews with an  online platforms, insisting the incident never occurred and labeled those behind it as "mischief makers".
 Ambassador Anegbe, also a  federal commissioner who representing  Edo state as an ombudsman in the Public Complaints Commission, said the online publication was grossly false, wicked and distasteful. 

He stated that as soon as the news broke, the first thing he did was to quickly got in touch with the distinguished senator on phone, adding the senator shocked him when he said that he is still holed up in his Abuja residence and had not stepped out contrary to what the story dished out by the online publication.

Pissed by the falsehood emanating from some online platforms, Ambassador Anegbe  advised journalists to  ensure they always verify the source of their news item before rushing to the press.

Similarly, Hon Solomon Taiwo, a political aide to the senator and former supervisory councillor of agriculture, denied the story about the senator's attack and abduction, insisting nothing of such happened, stressing the senator did not travel out of Abuja. 

Hon Taiwo described the report as "criminal" and urged those behind it to desist from any attempt to tarnish the integrity and reputation of the distinguished senator. 

 In addition, Hon Taiwo enjoined the online media practitioners in the country to eschew sensationalism in their work, adding as they strive for excellence in their trade, they must also not sacrifice accuracy and objectivity on the altar of junk journalism
