Oba Kelvin Danesi is the prescribed authority of South ibie kingdom_ Aidonogie in council

By Dada Ayokhai

What could have led to a breach of peace in  South Ibie kingdom  in Etsako West council area have  been nipped in the bud.

The peaceful atmosphere in the kingdom was about to be distrupted following a  publication in a national daily credited to the duo of Prince Abu Umoru and Anthony Isah Momoh, in which they asserted that the present occupant of the office of the Aidonogie of South Ibie, Oba Kevin Danesi, is illegally parading self as the Aidonogie of the kingdom in defiance of a court ruling which had previously voided his appointment.

In a swift reaction, the Aidonogie -in- Council,  composed of senior palace chiefs, village heads  and kingmakers,  dismissed the claims attributed to Prince Abu Umoru and his cohorts.

The Council maintained that Oba Danesi's position as the Aidonogie of South Ibie kingdom was never  in dispute, and also remains the prescribed  authority  as recongnised  by the Chieftaincy Edict operative in Edo  state.

The Council noted it was compelled to issue a rebuttal in  iorder to set the records straight for the benefit of unsuspecting members of the public who might be deceived by  contents of the ill_ informed publication.

Prince Zuberu, who is the village head of   Oba Danesi's village,  and Chief Isa Yamah, the Daudu 1 of South Ibie, both co- signed the rejoinder on behalf of the Council,.

The council  expressed its  dismay at the divisive antics exhibited by some members of the Oghiator branch of the Okhokho ruling house, led by Prince Inusa  Umoru, who have refused to come to terms with the reality that Oba Danesi as  the prescribed authority   of South Ibie kingdom.

In addition, the Council accused the  other ruling House of   distorting  facts and misrepresentation  same to a gullible public with a view to inciting violence and anarchy in the kingdom.

It further challenged those behind the  plot and publication to approach a competent court for the enforcement of their judgment if they have any at all.

The Council   reeling out the catalogue of court cases so far adjudicated in favour of Oba Danesi, specifically cited  the court of appeal judgement of April 7th 2003 which held that Danesi branch of the okhokho ruling House was the rightful branch of the ruling House to select, present, appoint and or produce a clan Head of South ibie in accordance with the provisions of the Registered chieftaincy declaration of South ibie.
The council  urged the general public to disregard the purported claims of certain disgruntled elements acting out the script of a faceless crown prince.
