Obaseki, shaibu shun oshiomole's 69 birthday bash

By Dada Ayokhai

The cold war which exists between former Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and his erstwhile political godsons, Mr Godwin Obaseki and Hon Philip Shaibu, is not in any way abating.
 .

The duo of Gov Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Hon Philip Shaibu, were conspicuously absent at the series of activities which took place in iyamho climaxing with a Thanksgiving service to mark the 69th birthday of the comrade governor.

The Thanksgiving service, held at the soley  built church and donated by comrade oshiomole   St Joseph Catholic church iyamho, Etsako West council area, was attended by top APC chieftains, led by national chairman of the caretaker committee of the Apc, who is also the Governor of Yobe State, HE Mai mallam Buni who was represented , Prince clem Agba, , political associates and well wishers who came to felicitate with the celebrant, also a one time President of the  Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

The Edo state deputy governor, comrade Philip shaibu attended the cannonisation of the St Joseph Catholic Church but avoided the birthday Thanksgiving giving service.

: Perhaps, owing to the strained relations between the comrade governor and his erstwhile political godsons, there was no state sponsored  newspaper adverts or goodwill messages to herald the event, unlike what used to be the tradition in the past when the trio enjoyed a cozy and robust relationship.

Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki had, at a most recent encounter with his estranged godfather during a public event, dismissed insinuations about him having personal grudges to grind with his predecessor, stressing their area of disagreement is about his predecessor's style of politics.

President Muhammad Buhari felicitated with the former APC national chairman and eulogised his contributions to grind governance in the country, adding he laboured so hard to return the APC on the pedestal of victory during the 2019 general elections

Mallam Garba Shehu, the President's Senior Special Adviser on Media, signed the message.

The highlight of the birthday thanksgiving service was the dedication of the Catholic Church built and donated to Iyamho community by the celebrant.
