Recognise Prince Umoru as Aidonogie of South Ibie, Oghiator appeals to Edo govt
By DADA AYOKHAI
The duo of Prince Abu Umoru, palace chief and Mr Anthony Issa Momoh, palace secretary of the Oghiator branch of the Okhokho ruling house have co-signed a public notice, in which they made a passionate appeal to the Edo State government to recongnise and install Prince Umoru as the Aidonogie of South Ibie Kingdom.
According to the duo, Prince Umoru has fufiled all the pre-requisites for recongnition and installation as Aidonogie of the Kingdom.
The duo based their assertion on various court pronouncements, including that obtained from Edo High Court and of the Appeal Court which they claimed even went as far as nullifying the appointment of Oba Kelvin Danesi as the Aidonogie of South Ibie.
The duo demanded that the state government should do the needful and immediately recongnise Prince Umoru as the rightful Aidonogie of South Ibie Kingdom.
The battle over which of the two ruling houses in South Ibie should produce the Aidonogie of South Ibie Kingdom has refused to abate.
Oba Kelvin Danesi, who presently occupies the revered stool as the Aidonogie of South Ibie, is from the Danesi branch of the ruling House .
There are two ruling houses in the Kingdom, the Danesi and the Oghiator branch from the same Okhokho ruling House.
Both ruling houses are, however, pitched in a running battle over who should produce the kingdom's monarch.
This royal rumble has raged on for some years and also defied several interventions by some well meaning individuals and groups who attempted to broker peace.
On two separate occasions, the Oghiator ruling house had cause to put out a media advert in some national dailies in which it re- asserted its claim to the throne, stating Prince Umoru Inusa Umoru is the rightful occupant to the stool.
Earlier, two members of the Aidonogie-in-Council had refuted the so- called advertorial, insisting, however, that Oba Kelvin Danesi still remains the subsisting monarch and enjoys all the paraphernalia of office as stipulated by the state government.
