Edo North PDP Leaders affirm Dokpesi as district political Leader
By DADA AYOKHAI
The feud within the ranks of the Edo North PDP family took recently took a new dimension with a section of PDP leaders in the district affirming the media mogul, High Chief (Dr) Raymond Dokpesi, as the Edo North Leader of the party .
The organizers of the meeting successfully kept the meeting away from the preying eyes of the media.
The emergence of Dokpesi is considered as a way to checkmate the status of the former two term deputy governor of the state, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, who has been the arrow head of PDP leaders in the district who are mainly Obaseki loyalist and enjoys the support of the state governor and his deputy.
Notable Edo North PDP leaders who attended the Agenebode, the administrative headquarter of Etsako East meeting where Dr Dokpesi emerged included former PDP state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih as well as the senatorial secretary, Hon Baba Sherrif.
Bulk of the attendees at the meeting were of the old PDP stock.
The emergence of Dr Dokpesi, though yet to secure support and endorsement from other PDP stalwarts in the district, is however seen as further heightening the rift between the old and the new PDP members in the district.
The Obaseki loyalists in Edo North district are yet to react to the new development.
Members of the old PDP stock have consistently complained about being marginalised as well as the subterranean move by the state's deputy governor, Hon Philip Shuaibu, and his loyalists, most of them new comers in the PDP, to hijack the party structure in the district.
Thus, the bulk of the old PDP members in the district who have queued behind the Dr Dokpesi leadership believe strongly that they are better placed now to neutralise the toxic political encroachments coming from the state governor and his deputy
