LGAs in Edo North are overstaffed_. Obaseki
By DADA AYOKHAI
Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki is presently contemplating the next line of action his administration would take on the twin issue of redundancy and over staffing in some local government areas in Edo North senatorial district of the state.
Governor Godwin Obaseki made the observation while addressing PDP Leaders across Edo north district during an enlarged Leaders meeting of the party in jattu, Etsako West local government.
Governor Obaseki attributed the slow pace of development witnessed in some of the local governments in Edo north to overstaffing leading to redundancy .
,He said"Elucidating the rationale behind the slow pace of development in some local government, the Governor expressed shock over some underpopulated local government in Edo North being over staffed with redundant workers as against Oredo, which is overpopulated with lesser number of staff, and very productive."
As a show of his extreme disgust with the Edo North councils, the governor made a veiled reference to Oredo local government in Edo South, which has proven more productive with a lesser number of staff even though it boasts of the largest population in the state.
Perhaps, borne out of this concern, the state government may soon have to chart another path to rejig the entire local government structure in order to boost service delivery.
However, the governor has repeatedly recently assured workers in the state of his administration's intention to seek more robust ways to manage the workers for productivity instead of the more painful option of staff rationalisation and disengagement.
