Obaseki congratulates Auchi born Journalist, Momodu, 2 others over appointments as Editors,

 The Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has felicitated with Shaka Momodu for being appointed as Editor of the ThisDay Newspapers.

He also felicitated with  two other journalists from Edo state, Mr. Davidson Iriekpen 
and Mr. Abiodun Eromosele  who  got elevated  as Editors,ThisDay  Saturday and Group Business of the newspaper.

The management of ThisDay Newspapers recently announced series of appointments which saw Auchi born Shaka Momodu emerging as Editor of This Day Newspapers.

The duo of Davidson Iriekpen and Abiodun Eromosele from Owan East and Esan  West local government area of Edo State were promoted as Editor of THISDAY, the Sunday Newspaper and Mr. Abiodun Eromosele as the newspaper's Group Business Editor.

The Governor in a statement said
" The promotion of Momodu, Iriekpen and Eromosele is a testament to the Edo spirit of hard work, diligence and excellence. 

"We are proud of their attainment, as they have become shining examples to our young ones, who are desirous of notable role models.”

According to him, “I am elated by the promotion of Mr. Shaka Momodu to the new position. A brilliant and thorough-bred journalist; he is deserving of the new assignment after rising through the ranks as a rookie reporter to this exalted position in the THISDAY stables."


"I appreciate the Board of THISDAY Newspapers for recognizing and rewarding the hard work demonstrated by these Edo sons in contributing to the growth of the media enterprise,” Obaseki added.

By this promotion, Momodu becomes the first person, who started his journalism career with THISDAY as a rookie reporter, to rise through the ranks to emerge as the editor of the most influential newspaper in the country.


He is expected to enrich the editorial content of the newspaper for the benefit of the paper’s esteemed readers.


 Momodu, born March 12, 1968, was promoted editor of THISDAY, The Sunday Newspaper in June 2018, after over four years in the job as the editor of THISDAY, The Saturday Newspaper. He rose through the ranks to become an associate editor of the Saturday Newspaper, where he was promoted to editor of the Saturday title.

He brings into the job his invaluable experience that spans over 20 years.

Momodu is a graduate of Political Science, Edo State University now Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma. He is currently doing an executive programme at the prestigious Yale School of Management, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, United States of America

Auchi Microfinance Bank groans under high customers debt profiles

By DADA AYOKHAI  The management of Auchi Microfinance Bank (AMFB), yesterday, decried the high indebtedness of customers to the bank just as it urges customers to pay up in order to remain in business. Chairman of the financial institution, Hassan Momodu, expressed his resentment at its 22nd and 23rd joint annual general meetings of the bank in Auchi, Edo  According to him "We are using this medium to appeal passionately to our shareholders and the general public that are indebted to us to pay up to reduce our yearly provisioning and improve our profitability”,  Momodu also said that the increase in the fund in the period under review represented a 29 percent improvement on the fund.
