Inegbeneki go against APC consensus arrangement, insists on vieing for chairmanship seat
By DADA AYOKHAI
The APC Leader in Edo Central Senatorial district, chief Francis Inegbeneki, said he has not in anyway dropped his ambition to vie for the chairmanship seat of the party during the state congresses slated for Saturday in Benin city and other states across the country.
Chief Inegbeniki make the declaration in a press statement in Benin.
The APC Leader statement is a reaction to dispelled a rumour that he has stepped down from the chairmanship race.
According to him "There is a rumor going round, that, I have stepped down or asked to step down. I'm here to set the record straight and therefore, I wish to state emphatically, that, I'm still on the race! "
Chief Inegbeneki further claimed he was aware of a meeting where the conveners vowed that it was either a consensus or no congresses.
"It is true, that, there was a kangaroo meeting, held few hours ago, where it was insinuated that, the Edo APC state congress will not hold as scheduled, but, rather a
process that is alien to the ethos and principles of democracy will be adopted, whereby an incompetent state executives will be handpicked and imposed on the party."
"I, and the majority of our party members completely dissociate ourselves from that illegal meeting and it's undemocratic decision, and as such, insist on a free and credible state congress as stipulated by the Constitution of APC and the congress guidelines released by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC). "
Chief Inegbeneki appealled to the leadership of the party to intervene to save the party from political annihilation.
"We are by this medium appealled to the leadership of our party and the chairman of CECPC, H.E Mai Mala Buni to intervene and stop our party in Edo state, from
imminent political annihilation"
