The acrimony between the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and the former Edo PDP chairman, Chief Dan Orbih recently played out with the governor and his deputy Philip Shaibu conpiscously absent at his 60th birthday bash which took place at his Abuja residence.
Chief Orbih 60years birthday bash which took place two days to the PDP National convention in Abuja became an ample opportunity for chtief Orbih to exhibits his political strength in PDP.
Either by coincidence or planned arrangements, Chief Orbih ensured the presence of PDP Leaders across the country led by former country's vice president, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, former Senate president, olusola saraki, his then deputy, Senator Ekweremadu, accompanied by about 7 state governors which includes that of Rivers, Delta, Akwa ibom, Oyo, to attend the birthday and national Assembly members.
From Edo state, the crowd cuts across party line, topmost APC member was Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who was Obaseki's opponent at the last Edo Guber poll.
On the part of Edo PDP , were Senator Matthew Urhokhide, Hon Ogbeide Ihama and a host of other PDP leaders in the state congregated at the Orbih's highbrow Asokoro house in Abuja.
The presence of the party Big wigs, governors and others might be chief Orbih's way of telling the governor Obaseki and his loyalist how strong his political strength is, which cannot be wished away in the party.
Governor Obaseki and chief Orbih are presently in a face off over who controls the party structure of the party in the state .
The political face off led to the alleged suspension of Orbih by the Obaseki's loyalist with the governor making appearance at a meeting where the suspension of Orbih was ratified.
The governor loyalists attempt to use the judiciary to stop Orbih from attending the party convention was unsuccessful.
