Adetutu Owolabi's Foundation settles Medical bills for a newborn baby at Igarra General Hospital

In a rare twist of fate, an indigent Igarra mother and her newly born baby, taking refuge in an Akoko Edo hospital because of unsettled medical bills, have every reason to thank officials of an NGO who came to her aid and cleared the bills.
Reports said the "lucky" woman and her baby have been "residing" in the hospital three weeks after delivery due to unpaid medical bills.
Officials of the NGO, the Stephen Gideon Owolabi Foundation, an Akoko Edo based NGO, while on a visit to hospitals in the local government area to felicitate with women and children in the spirit of the yelutide, to stumbled on the case of the woman and her baby.
Mrs Adetutu Owolabi, a popular Akoko Edo politician, is said to be the main promoter of the NGO and its activities in the locality.
Sources disclosed the NGO was primarily set up by the American trained nurse and popular Akoko Edo politician to assist indigent families in critical medical conditions as well as ensure the proper upkeep of women and children in Akoko Edo.
According to sources, the mother and her baby were said to have taken refuge in the hospital three weeks after delivery following their inability to offset the medical bills incurred during delivery.
On hearing the pathetic story of the woman, officials of the Foundation quickly swept into action and defrayed all the medical expenses which compelled the woman and her baby to become in-house residents of the hospital.
However, the touching gesture of the NGO in rescuing the "stranded woman and her baby" earned it huge goodwill and commendations among the populace.
This is not, however, the first time the Stephen Gideon Owolabi Women and Children Foundation, will be assisting the indigent and less privileged in our midst.
The NGO has become particularly famous for its series of touching gestures in Akoko Edo, with special emphasis on women and children.
