Senate 2023; Anxiety in Edo North over Oshiomhole's rumour ambition

The rumour mills in Edo North political circuit is abuzz with speculations of the senatorial ambition of former Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

The comrade governor has so far kept mute about his next political options, even as his silence is causing quite a stir and tension among potential aspirants in the district. 

A formal declaration of interest by the former APC national chairman will potentially alter political calculations across the two dominant political parties in the district. 

Currently, Edo North is the stronghold of the APC, courtesy the comrade governor's commanding influence and clout, a huge factor to be considered by anyone who intends to slug it out with him for the APC senatorial ticket. 

Keen watchers of recent political developments in Edo North have already predicted a rollercoaster victory for the acclaimed political godfather who, despite his recent political turmoils, is still held in high esteem in Edo North district. 

Even in the PDP, there is some disquiet among its leaders over the rumoured senatorial ambition of the former governor. 

Inside sources within the PDP disclosed that the Oshiomole for Senate race, if it turns out to be true, may ultimately alter previous political permutations as well as possibly culminate in the party having to shop for a senatorial candidate who posseses the clout, charisma and oratory to match the comrade governor, even if it means looking outside the party. 

With opinions divided on the former APC national chairman's senatorial bid, critics have harped on the need for him to deploy his experience, expertise and political sagacity in helping the APC reclaim power in the state rather than he seeking an elective post. 

According to the critics, the comrade governor should not join the league of former governors who turned the senate chamber into a retirement package for themselves

BORBDA Establishes four integrated farm in Edo state

By DADA AYOKHAI The Management of Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), has in line with the federal government policy of shifting from oil to the non oil of the economy with emphasis on Agriculture has  established four integrated farms in Edo state. The farms located in Benin, Auchi, okpe and Uneme N'Ekhua were recently virtually commissioned by the minister of water resources, Engr Suileman Hussein Adamu from Benin, Edo state capital.
