Dele Momodu raises Ihievbe, Owan's status in Nigeria's politics

By DADA AYOKHAI

Chief Dele Momodu, the publisher of ovation magazine  and accomplished international journalist recently adopted a unique style to herald his presidential bid in an  unusual way.

The  internationally acclaimed journalist, along with his entourage, stormed lhievbe,  Owan East LGA in most unique manner to formally declare his presidential bid on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

While others chose to issue press releases or post on their verifiable Twitter handles, Chief Momodu, after 49 years of absence from his  source, ihievbe,  did the most unthinkable by going back home to conduct the formal declaration, albeit with a grassroot appeal.

Thus, by this singular act,    executed in a most brazen and unique way,  Chief Momodu has significantly elevated the political status of ihievbe and the Owan clan  in the politics of Nigeria as a country.

And, on hand to accord him the greatest honour and solidarity as well as an acknowledgement of his bold attempt to alter the political narrative of the country, were his town folks, including top Owan traditional, political  and religious leaders.

Senator Yisa Braimoh, the most famous and highest ranking Owan politician, led other political heavyweights  to the declaration venue to confer "home advantage".

Chief Momodu, on his homecoming and presidential declaration, said he has what is takes to preside over the affairs of the country under the PDP platform.

He said, "For long I have been interacting with Presidents, Ministers, Governors and other top power brokers because I know that one day I will be President.

"All I want to be is President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Today is a day to say it finally before my people. Anybody who thinks he is better qualified than me should come out and say so".

Responding on behalf of the people, Sen Yisa Braimoh noted he was proud to be a witness to the epoch making event, describing the Chief Dele Momodu as the "best choice for Aso Rock Villa" from the locality.

Sen Braimoh holds the political record of being the first Ihievbe and Owan man to represent Edo North senatorial district in the Senate. He served between 2007 - 2011.
