Edo APC claims ignorance of Domingo's interest in party's National Secretary's position

By DADA AYOKHAI
The former senator representing Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Domingo Obende will be vying for the position of the National Secretary of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party's National Convention slated for February 26 in Abuja without the support from  his state chapter of his party.

The former senator who is from the Akoko Edo axis in Edo North of the state, represented Edo North District at the Senate between 2015-2019.

It was gathered that the APC National body  has unofficially zone the party's secretaryship slot to the southern part of the country hence the decision of the former Senator  to formally indicate interest.

According to the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in Edo State, Mr Ofure Osehobo, who said he is not speaking for the party, said he is not aware that the former senator is seeking for any   elective position at the National Convention.

The relationship between the former  Senator and the state of the APC  became sour when he queued behind governor Godwin Obaseki during the political imbroglio between him and the party former National chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

The Edo State APC  further accused Domingo of working against the party interest during the gubernatorial election in the state where the governor Obaseki defeated his APC opponent, pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu at the poll.

The former Senator seems not to have been having a sleepless night over the Edo  cold relationship with him on his aspiration to serve the party at the National level.

According to close sources, senator Obende is making inroad to actualize his dream of becoming the party's scribe by using his personal contact to reach out to party leaders and some governors on the party's platform.

Senator Obende posters for the party secretary's position are already on the streets which indicates his determination to forge ahead irrespective of the party body's language.
