Court Fixes December 29 for Judgment in PDP’s Suit against Ize-Iyamu

By DADA AYOKHAI  An Abuja High  court precided over by  Justice Ahmed Mohammed  will on  Tuesday,29 December  delivers  judgment in the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the disqualification of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from the September 19 governorship election in Edo State. Justice Mohammed fixed the date after counsel representing parties adopted and argued their respective written addresses for and against the suit. PDP in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/ CS/69/20, is praying the court for an order disqualifying Ize-iyamu from contesting in the September 19 governorship poll on account of not being validly nominated by his party, the APC. By DADA AYOKHAI A  Federal High Court sitting in Abuja will on Thursday,24 December commese proceedings  on   the alleged certificate forgery suit preferred against the Edo state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki by the APC. This  development became necessary after the court refused to stay proceedings in the suit as requested by the Governor and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) . Accordingly, the court directed the plaintiff to open and close his case within two days beginning from Thursday, December 24 to Tuesday, December 29. It equally gave the defendants two days to open and conclude their defence effective from Wednesday 30 to Thursday 31 of December 2020. By DADA AYOKHAI The  Edo state government has filed  an appeal and stay of execution against an Edo high court judgement which ordered reinstatement  of Alhaji Aremiyau  Momoh  aka Mbakwe as   chairman  of  Etsako East local government area of Edo state. Justice Daniel okungbowa of Edo high court had in a recent judgement declared as illegal, null and void the suspension of the Etsako East council chairman by the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki. Justice Daniel Irowa Okungbowa has ordered the reinstatement  of Hon momoh Aremiyau aka Mbakwe  as   Chairman of Etsako East local government with immediate effect. Justice Okungbowa declared Momoh’s purported removal by  Governor Godwin Obaseki   as null and void. He was directed to resume in his official capacity immediately. By DADA AYOKHAI  A Federal High court in Abuja,   has struck out  the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki‘s motion hiddering the commesment of the substantive suit of  alleged forged certificate suit.      The  court had adjourned the hearing of the alleged certificate forgery suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Governor obaseki from November 16th to November 18th which was subsequently adjourned again. By DADA AYOKHAI The remains of the late former Leader of Owan East Legislative arm, Hon Adams Afegbai has been laid to rest at his country home in  Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State after a funeral church service at Lazarian Catholic Church. Hon Afegbai who died at the age of 80 was a retired senior police officer and  the  former Leader of Owan East Legislative arm.  Among those at the grave side to pay the deceased last respect were Senator Yisa Braimoh, Afegbai  extended family of Ihievbe, Braimoh's family , political associates, friends and well wishers.
